Privacy Policy

Stellar Citizen (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is published by Arcane Domain. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Summary

• We do not sell your personal data.
• Sign-in is handled through Zooniverse; we store only the access token needed to use their API.
• Subscriptions and in-app purchases are managed securely via RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play.
• Telescope features connect to devices on your local network and do not send mount data to our servers.
• Remote team features require Zooniverse sign-in and store shared team data in Cloudflare D1.
• We do not run advertising or third-party analytics in the app.

Information we collect

Subscriptions and in-app purchases (optional)

If you purchase a subscription (Explorer, Observer, or Pro), transactions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store under their respective terms. We use RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts, manage entitlement status across your devices, and unlock tier features. RevenueCat processes an anonymous App User ID and purchase transaction details. We do not collect or store your payment card numbers.

Zooniverse account (optional)

If you choose to sign in, we use Zooniverse OAuth to obtain an access token. With your permission, the app may read your Zooniverse profile (display name, username, avatar) and classification count from the Zooniverse API. We store the OAuth token locally on your device. On iOS and Android we use platform secure storage where available. On the web, tokens are kept in browser storage for the session lifetime and are not hardware-backed secure storage.

Team dashboard data (optional, Pro)

If you use the remote team dashboard, you must sign in with Zooniverse. Our Teams API (a Cloudflare Worker backed by Cloudflare D1) stores shared team data: team name, invite code, member display names and logins, classification and observing session counts, and an activity feed (for example joins, milestones, and telescope session events). This data is processed to display club progress to team members. Hosting and processing are provided by Cloudflare.

Leaving a team removes your membership row and related activity entries tied to your account. If you are the last member, the team and its activity history are deleted. We do not offer automatic deletion of every Zooniverse account attribute; for broader deletion requests contact hello@arcanedoma.in.

Local device storage

The app stores preferences on your device, including your Zooniverse token (if signed in) and optional telescope connection settings (IP address and port). This data stays on your device unless you sign out or uninstall the app.

Local network (optional)

If you use telescope control, the app connects directly to ASCOM Alpaca software on your local Wi‑Fi network. These requests go from your device to your equipment; we do not receive or store telescope commands on our servers.

Location & space weather (sky map and alerts)

The interactive sky map and sky alerts features use your observing site location stored on your device to display visible targets and calculate aurora/eclipse visibility. Sky alert data is fetched from public space weather services, including the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). We do not transmit your GPS coordinates to our own servers.

How we use information

• Authenticate you with Zooniverse and display your account details in the app.
• Verify subscription status via RevenueCat to grant access to paid features.
• Show your classification count and link you to citizen-science projects.
• Remember telescope connection settings you provide.
• Operate and improve the app.

Linked social accounts (optional)

You may optionally link Meta or X accounts from your profile to share astronomy findings. If you link an account, we store the provider access token and basic profile information (name, username, avatar) locally on your device so you can post from the app. We do not receive these tokens on our servers. You can unlink accounts at any time from Profile.

Posts are sent directly to Meta or X using their APIs or share dialogs. Those platforms process the content under their own privacy policies.

Third-party services

RevenueCat — subscription status and in-app purchase entitlements are subject to RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Zooniverse — sign-in, project data, and classifications are subject to Zooniverse’s privacy policy.

Meta and X — optional account linking and sharing are subject to Meta’s privacy policy and X’s privacy policy.

Hosting — our marketing site and web app are hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process standard web server logs (IP address, browser type) when you visit our sites.

Cloudflare — the Teams API and its D1 database are hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes API requests you make while signed in, including your Zooniverse bearer token for authentication validation against Zooniverse (we do not log tokens).

Children

Stellar Citizen is suitable for general audiences. Zooniverse accounts for users under 13 require parental consent per Zooniverse’s terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.

Data retention and deletion

OAuth tokens and local preferences are removed when you sign out or uninstall the app. Team dashboard data stored in Cloudflare D1 is removed when you leave a team (or when the team is deleted because you were the last member). Email hello@arcanedoma.in for manual deletion requests.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we store most data locally on your device, signing out or uninstalling the app removes it. For other requests, contact us at hello@arcanedoma.in.

Security

Tokens use platform secure storage on native apps where available. Web tokens remain in browser storage for their lifetime. All Zooniverse and Teams API traffic uses HTTPS. Local telescope traffic uses your private network and is restricted to private hosts in the app.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
